Leon Orr got great news Wednesday.

The NCAA Clearinghouse had cleared him, paving the way for Orr to enroll early at Florida. Today, the former Gulf star is moving his things up to Gainesville. On Friday, he might take his first college class.

“I was real excited to know I passed through the Clearinghouse,” Orr said.

Orr, a 6-foot-5, 315-pound standout, is one of the Gators’ prized recruits. A top-100 prospect according to Rivals.com, he is projected to play on the defensive line at Florida, but could very well end up on offense.

When reached Thursday morning, Orr was packing.

He is being driven to Gainesville by Gulf assistant Kenneth Hollar.

“I’m happy and I’m greatful,” Orr said. “I’m ready to take the next step. But I’m going to take baby steps. I’m excited, but I’m cautious at the same time.”
