Linda McQuade will return to the volleyball sideline this fall as Fivay's coach.

McQuade was hired in February as the school's athletic director. Since the 1990s she wore both hats at Hudson before stepping away from volleyball in 2009. McQuade guided the Cobras to 12 playoff berths since 1995, including three final fours.

"I kind of miss it," McQuade said. "I thought it would be a good opportunity to start a program from scratch and try to make another run it."

McQuade said Monday she originally stepped away to help care for her mother. McQuade realized just how much she missed coaching when the Cobras made a run to the final four last fall under first-year coach Shayna Munson.

McQuade said she also has a great-niece coming to Fivay from Hudson Middle whom she would like to coach "if she makes the varsity."
