East Lake pass-catch duo Pete DiNovo and Artavis Scott were among the local football players earning MVP honors Saturday night at the BHSN Ignite Elite Showcase combine put on by Big County Preps at Larry Sanders Sports complex in Tampa.
The event, in its third year, featured a number of skills testing and instruction, followed by 1-on-1 competition among 250 participants.
DiNovo, who threw for 2,426 yards and 19 touchdowns last season, was the quarterback MVP, while his favorite target at East Lake, Scott (1,158 yards, 12 TDs) took home the same honors amongst the wide receivers.
The other MVPs were:
RB: Robert Davis, Carrollwood Day
TE: Troy Olmo, Clearwater Central Catholic
OL: Logan McNeil, Lakewood
DL: Jordan Sherit, Hillsborough
LB: Isaac Tanner, Freedom
DB: Maurice Hall, Gibbs
Overall, Lakewood's offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn was selected Offensive MVP, while Defensive MVP honors went to West Port's Anthony Davis. Both players earned an automatic invite to next year's U.S. Army Combine.
