A quick note to pass along:

When the LSU softball team begins the 2010 season Feb. 12, the Tigers will do so with Chamberlain grad Jessica Mouse as their captain.

“Jessica is the epitome of what a student-athlete wearing the LSU jersey should represent,” Tigers coach Yvette Girouard said. “She is a diligent student in the classroom, a community-service minded person and a relentless worker on the softball field.”

Mouse was selected as captain by her teammates.

The junior third baseman has played in 95 consecutive games for the Tigers. She batted .264 with two home runs, 14 RBIs and a 388 on-base percentage last season. Mouse led the Tigers with a .991 fielding percentage.

While at Chamberlain, Mouse earned Class 5A first-team all-state honors as a junior and senior.
