Highly-heralded Gulf quarterback Madison Burr will not start at quarterback tonight against Hudson, Buccaneers coach Jay Fulmer said.
"We're just trying to protect his knee," Fulmer said. "We can't afford for him to go down in a non-district game."
Gulf sophomore Ty'Shon Peters will start in his place. Fulmer said Burr could possibly come in and play quarterback at some point.
Burr suffered a knee injury during Monday's practice and has been receiving therapy.
Fulmer said Burr will start at left outside linebacker, but will be positioned to help protect his knee.
"He's been kind of gimpy and half speed all week," Fulmer said. "He went to therapy and he's going again after school. He'll start on defense on the left side so he can protect his left knee."
