We could make some silly Rolling Stones references to Countryside midfielder Jagger Martinez's first name, but we're not that shallow. Instead, we'll simply indicate why we've selected him as the Times' Male Athlete of the Week.

With the Cougars getting no satisfaction from their offense through the first 80 minutes of the region quarterfinals, Jagger came to his team's emotional rescue, scoring on a Derya Ekren through ball in overtime for a 1-0 triumph that left Bloomingdale, well, shattered.

It was the second consecutive game in which Jagger scored his team's lone goal. He didn't score in Tuesday's 3-0 victory at Wharton, but then again, you can't always get what you want.

And if you wish to see the true inspiration behind his first name, check out the accompanying video.
