In a liquid -- if not literal -- sense, Robinson senior J.J. Hubbard left it all on the Corral Memorial Stadium field Friday night.

"I was pretty tired," said the 5-foot-8, 166-pound Knights tailback, who exploded for 135 second-half yards in the Knights' 21-7 playoff victory at Jesuit. "I went to the sideline, threw up a little bit of Gatorade, but I was good after that."

Hubbard's final numbers Friday: 19 carries, 187 yards and two TDs. Not included in that total is a 70-yard TD scamper on his first carry of the second half that was negated by a holding penalty.

"After the holding penalty, I was a little brought down by it," said Hubbard, who has more than 300 rushing yards and seven total TDs in two playoff contests. "But I kept pretty calm, told the whole offense don't worry, that I was going to be able to do it again, and I did it again."
