Admiral Farragut couldn't make enough of its chances in the red zone, which proved costly in a 35-7 loss to Melbourne Central Catholic in Saturday's spring football game.

The Blue Jackets scored once in the first half on a 40-yard run by Rayshawn Jenkins, who is taking over at quarterback for Josh Burch.

Relying on the running of Cortavious Givins and Toddrick Macon, Admiral Farragut reached MCC's 5-yard line three other times and failed to score. One touchdown was called back on a penalty and two other drives were stopped on downs.

"We had our chances," Blue Jackets coach Chris Miller said. "We just didn't execute in the red zone."

Admiral Farragut, which was coming off its first playoff appearance since 2003, decided to travel to play Melbourne Central Catholic, a 2009 state semifinalist in Class A.

"We faced a pretty good team," Miller said. "Overall, I was pretty pleased with the effort."
