Miami looking closely at Pinellas Park's Iman Smith

Pinellas Park's Iman Smith is scheduled to visit Ball State this weekend, and Florida International the weekend after that.

But it is a visit to Pinellas Park last week by the University of Miami that could end up leading to Smith's bigger offer to date.

According to coach Kenny Crawford, Miami coaches requested more video on Smith, a 6-foot-2, 195-pound athlete that the Hurricanes like on the defensive side of the ball. They also visited the Patriots senior to "size him up."

Miami said they would get back in touch with Smith in a few days. "There's no guarantee,'' Crawford said. "But we're getting down the point where they need some linebackers and they like athletes on the defensive side.''

Smith picked up his latest offer from Middle Tennessee State over Christmas break and could visit the Blue Raiders as well.
