Middleton WR Richard Benjamin has top five, visits planned to USF & UF

Middleton junior Richard Benjamin, one of the Tampa Bay area’s top Class of 2013 recruits, will be spending the next two Saturdays visiting schools currently in his top five.

Benjamin, who holds more than 30 Division I-A offers, said Thursday his top five schools, in no certain order, are USF, Florida, Vanderbilt, Notre Dame and Florida State.

He plans to make an unofficial visit to USF this weekend to watch the Bulls play UTEP at Raymond James Stadium. Next weekend, he is slated to attend Florida’s SEC home game against Alabama.

Benjamin, who averaged nearly 28 yards per catch last year as a sophomore, said he also homes to visit Vanderbilt and Miami in the coming weeks.

Despite being carted off the field in last week’s loss to Lennard -- he was later diagnosed with a deep knee bruise --  Benjamin is expected to play Friday at Spoto.
