DE James Wilder Jr. might have been the most talented player on the Plant defense last season, but one could argue LB Mike Mirabella was the unit’s most valuable member.
Mirabella, who also is an honor student, recently visited Princeton.
“He really liked it,” Plant coach Robert Weiner said.
Mirabella has yet to pick up a Division I-A offer, but “he’s got some Ivy League opportunities,” Weiner said. “He’s weighing that with some smaller-school opportunities. And he may see if he wants to go as perhaps a walk on to a bigger school.”
As a senior, Mirabella recorded 149 total tackles and 12 sacks for the state champion Panthers. He started three seasons, winning two state titles.
Weiner said he expects several schools to start showing more interest in Mirabella as National Signing Day approaches.
“I think the next three weeks there will be a flurry of activity,” Weiner said.
