Mitchell RB Ricky Trinidad received his first official scholarship offer Monday coming from Georgia Southern.

A coach from the school visited Mitchell, sat down with Trinidad and coach Brian Wachtel and made his pitch.

"He said he saw clips of Ricky playing," Wachtel said. "They we're very impressed with his speed and patience as a running back."

Trinidad helped the Mustangs to an 8-2 record last season after rushing for almost 1,400 yards and 16 touchdowns.

Wachtel said other schools have expressed interest including USF, Wofford and Jacksonville State.

"He's just handled himself really well (through the recruiting process)," Wachtel said of Trinidad. "He was excited and I was excited for him. Things happen for a reason."
