Mitchell running back/defensive back Ricky Trinidad said he is "day to day" after injuring his knee in the Mustangs' 42-28 loss to Clearwater Central Catholic on Friday and his availability for the Mustangs' district opener Friday against Anclote would be "a game-time decision."
Trinidad injured his left knee after a 17-yard run with 8:10 remaining in the fourth quarter and Mitchell trailing 42-21. After staying down for several minutes, Trinidad walked off the field under his own power. He remained on the bench for the duration of the game with an ice pack on his swollen knee.
"I was pretty scared," Trinidad said.
Trinidad had his knee examined over the weekend and was encouraged by the results.
"I had an X-ray taken and they said everything is okay," Trinidad said.
The senior, who holds offers from Georgia Southern and Youngstown State, said he will have another check-up Tuesday or Wednesday, after which he'll have a better idea of his status for Friday's game.
