Mitchell senior Jake Driscoll surpassed 1,000 career points tonight with a 51-point explosion in the Mustangs’ 107-101 victory over Wiregrass Ranch. He entered the game needing 33 points to surpass that plateau.
“He was hitting 3s. He was hitting pull-ups. He was hitting layups,” Mustangs coach Jared St. Charles said. “He just hit everything. Unbelievable game.”
The 6-foot guard is being recruited by some small Division I programs and several Division II schools.
Driscoll averaged 23 points and 7.5 rebounds per game last season but also missed time with mononucleosis. St. Charles said Driscoll has gotten progressively better during his career.
“I never expected 51,” St. Charles said, “but we expect him to be scoring around 25 points per game.”
