Recent Nature Coast grad Caleb Martin signed with Georgia Highlands College in Rome, Ga. this week.

Martin (6-foot-7), a small forward for the basketball team that reached the state semifinals last season with a 29-2 record, has good touch from the perimeter. He averaged 6.3 points and 5.7 rebounds while playing all 31 games for Nature Coast.

His standout games came during the Brighthouse Holiday Tournament in Clearwater. He had his lone double double of the season in the tournament opener, a 77-49 win over Boca Ciega in which he scored 11 points and had 10 rebounds. In the second game, he scored a season-high 15 in a 67-41 victory over Riverview.

Georgia Highlands, a community college, is just beginning its basketball program. Coach Phil Gaffney has averaged more than 20 wins a season during his career and coached six junior college All-Americans.
