A key member of Nature Coast’s back-to-back region final volleyball teams, Michelle Doucet will sign with Pensacola State College this week.

Doucet joins the Panhandle Conference champions that went 26-4 overall this season, losing to Hillsborough Community College and St. Petersburg College in the NJCAA state tournament.

Doucet has been a major cog as Nature Coast set school records for victories the past two seasons, including going 25-4 this year. As a junior, she had a team-leading 70 blocks, 61 solo. Tulane signee Courtney Liddle was second (32).

The senior was by far the Sharks’ best defender at the net as well with 51 total blocks, including 39 solo. That was more than double Sierra Ruiz (23), who was second. She also finished third on the team with 109 kills this season and a 38.2 kill percentage.

The Pirates’ roster is laden with freshmen this season, so the team will not be looking for players to start in their first year next season. Doucet should have an opportunity to contribute by coming off the bench for Pensacola State coach Chris Laird.
