Newsome baseball coach Zach Walker, who has guided the Wolves the past three seasons, has stepped down, Newsome athletic director Paul Lindstrom confirmed Wednesday.
During his first season in 2008, Walker guided Newsome to a 17-9 season and the Class 5A region semifinals, where they lost to eventual state semifinalist Brandon.
But since, the Wolves have suffered through two losing seasons, including a 7-16 campaign this year that ended with a loss to Armwood in the Class 5A-8 district quarterfinals on Monday.
