Newsome's Hodges signs with Polk

Newsome senior Jake Hodges, the Wolves' No. 2 scorer and rebounder, has signed with two-year program Polk State College (formerly Polk Community College) in Winter Haven, Wolves coach Jon Mackey announced.

A sturdy 6-foot-4 forward, Hodges averaged 15.2 points and 5.7 rebounds as a senior, leading Newsome (22-9) to the Class 5A region finals and earning Times honorable mention all-county honors.

A four-year letterman, he averaged at least eight points in each of his final three seasons.
