Royce Easley, referred to by his coach as Newsome's "speed guy" in its Wing-T offense, has been offered a scholarship by Florida Tech. The Division II school recently announced its first recruiting class and expects to start competing in 2013.
Easley, listed as a wingback on the Wolves’ roster, also has offers from Division I-AA schools Georgia Southern and Youngstown State. His 16 yards per carry average last season was tops on the team, and his 412 total rushing yards ranked him as Newsome’s third leading back.
In case you need a refresher on the Wing-T formation, check out the diagram, courtesy of the website football-plays.com. Those two circles lined up even with the quarterback and about a step back from the offensive line are the wingbacks. The fullback is directly behind the quarterback. All three could receive the handoff, or at least pretend to in an attempt to confuse the defense.
