NEW PORT RICHEY -- Gulf football coach Jay Fulmer re-confirmed in a text message Tuesday that standout TE/DL Leon Orr will not play this week against Sunlake because of an ankle sprain sustained Sept. 11. The Bucs are hopeful Orr, who also missed last week’s game, can return next week when Gulf (3-0) plays Land O’Lakes.

Orr has two catches for 28 yards and one touchdown.

On defense, he’s without question the Bucs’ top player.

The 6-foot-4, 300-pounder is a Rivals.com top 100 national recruit.

A Florida Gators recruit, Orr hurt his ankle against River Ridge when he landed awkwardly after attempting to catch a pass. X-rays taken last week showed no breaks or cartilage damage.
