Wiregrass Ranch continued a fast start to the cross country season by sweeping the Mitchell Invite over the weekend.

The Bulls’ top five boys all finished in the top 26, led by eighth-place finish Ermias Bireda (16:00.94).  Sam Hippely (10th), David Hill (16th), Tyler Mattera (23rd) and Thor Alastre (26th) helped Wiregrass finish eight points ahead of runner-up Steinbrenner.

Nature Coast finished third behind top-15 showings by Cody VanNatter (16:16.46) and Kevin Ciccone (16:22.12).

Anclote’s Argishti Gazari won the 5K race with a time of 15:33.93. Other notable North Suncoast performances: Land O’Lakes’ Travis Nichols (seventh), Mitchell’s Nicholas Kostakis (ninth), Land O’Lakes’ Tyler Stahl (11th), Land O’Lakes’ Jake Poore (18th) and Gulf’s Nick Buliga (20th).

Wiregrass’ girls also placed five runners in the top 30 to finish 12 points ahead of second-place Osceola.  Nikita Shah (fourth, 18:21.06) paced the Bulls, followed by Elise Cedre (12th) and Chelsea Davis (14th).

Gulf star Kari Grippo breezed to a 35-second victory over the field, finishing first with a time of 17:24.78. Her performance helped the Buccaneers place fifth as a team.

Other notable North Suncoast performances: Mitchell’s Claudia Cancello (18th), Mitchell’s Elaina Cancello (21st), Wiregrass’ Victoria Morea (23rd) and Springstead’s Ty’Rhonza Harris (25th).
