Wiregrass Ranch senior Nikita Shah had one of the best performances of her career to lead the North Suncoast’s weekend cross country roundup.
She finished second in the FLRunners Invitational’s race of champions with a time of 17:48.50. Her teammates, Elise Cedre and Madison Conway finished 59th and 60th to help the Bulls place 10th as a team. Mitchell’s Claudia Cancello took 30th in the race (19:26.30).
Wiregrass’ boys team also competed in the race of champions. Ermias Bireda took 79th (17:15.60), and Patrick Hill finished at 102 (17:31.30).
In the FLRunners’ unseeded A event, Mitchell’s boys finished ninth, led by a third-place showing from Koehler Machlus (17:15.70). and a 12th-place finish from Troy Shea (17:52.80). The Mustangs’ girls finished 18th, with Emily Kerns (13th, 21:01.30) and Elaina Cancello (25th, 21:34.70) leading the way.
Anclote’s boys were ninth in the unseeded B event. Spencer Guerette had a strong, fourth-place run (17:59.90), and Quentin Jameson was 26th.
In FLRunners’ 5K cross country invitational, Tiana Newton was Springstead’s top performer, finishing 31st in the girls event (20:27.40). Carl Zee led the boys (106th, 18:08.00).
At the Seffner Christian Invitational, Nature Coast’s boys and girls both fared well. The Sharks’ boys team took third, fueled by top-20 finishes from James Harkless (10th, 17:35.11), Cody Van Natter (15th, 17:58.28) and Kevin Ciccone (20th, 18:15.40). Freshman Tyler Pantley was Hernando’s best performer, coming in 81st.
NCT’s girls finished seventh as a team. Brielle Perlingieri led the Sharks by placing ninth (21:54.62), and Brianna Horn took 10th, just seven seconds behind. Cindy Caceres was Hernando’s top finisher, placing 57th.
