Fivay def. Anclote (18-25, 26-24, 25-7, 16-25, 15-8): The Falcons withstood an assault from Anclote to eke out a five-game victory. The win lifts Fivay to an 11-2 record and is a nice recovery from a five-game loss to Wiregrass Ranch last week. Tuesday’s triumph was the first five-game win of the season for Fivay, which entered the night having dropped only six games all year. The Sharks (9-5) fall out of a tie for the top spot in Class 5A, District 8 with their first district defeat.
Tarpon Springs def. Land O’Lakes (25-14, 25-2, 25-14): The Gators remained winless in district play. Land O’Lakes (1-8) struggled in the second game and couldn’t recover, dropping its seventh match in a row after a 3-1 victory over Gulf this month. The Spongers (13-1) remain perfect in 6A-10, with two 3-0 wins coming against the Gators.
Mitchell def. Sunlake (25-22, 25-19, 25-13): The Mustangs (11-3) tinkered with their lineups and emptied their bench in a victory over the Seahawks (0-8) in a Class 6A, District 10 contest. Senior outside hitter Karly Dampier recorded four aces in two games, and Keysha Pagan’s digs helped Mitchell improve to 4-1 in the district with its second consecutive victory.
