Northeast's Kubala finishes 12th at Pebble Beach

Northeast golfer Kyle Kubala was among 23 juniors who advanced to the final round of the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach this past weekend.

Kubala was paired with Hale Irwin and finished 12th overall with 68-67-67—202.

In the opening round, Kubala had a hole-in-one, then made the cut by shooting 67 and finishing 9 under in the second round.
Kubala’s teammate, Austin Stephens, missed the cut. Stephens, who was paired with Andy Bean, shot 71-67—138 in the first two rounds.

The Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach is an official Champions Tour tournament that pairs 81 junior golfers with professionals.

Kubala and Stephens are members of First Tee of St. Petersburg and each had tried the past three years to get into the tournament, which selects participants based on an essay and interview.
