Northeast swimmer Lauren Piper made her college choice official by signing with Alabama.
Piper, who transferred from Sarasota Riverview, also made visits to Hawaii, South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina. But her trip to Alabama sold her on going to the school.
"I just fell in love with the campus," Piper said. "It has such a college feel to it and the coaching staff was great."
Piper wraps up her high school career at the Class 3A state meet on Friday. In college, she'll focus on the individual medleys and freestyle events. And she'll have plenty of competition from local swimmers in the Southeastern Conference.
Others swimmers who are going to SEC schools include Seminole's Kaitlin Frehling (Florida) and Countryside's Melanie Margalis (Georgia).
