Ja'Juan Story mentioned the thought of running out of the Notre Dame tunnel.
Nature Coast coach Mark Nash said he "got chills" recalling the days when the Fighting Irish ruled the college football landscape and everyone wanted to play under the gaze of Touhdown Jesus.
The dream could become reality one day for the Sharks' Story, who received an offer Tuesday morning from Notre Dame.
Irish receivers coach Tony Alford made the offer on the spot after seeing Story with his own eyes.
"He was on their radar," Nash said. "They've seen the video. He offered him right on the spot. He told me, we're offering Ja'Juan."
Story currently is preparing for the Class 3A state track meet and is not participating in football practice.
When he begins practice Monday, Nash plans to use Story at receiver, quarterback, the secondary and possibly linebacker.
"I'm not dumb," Nash said. "I want to put the ball in his hands. If we can put him at wide receiver and get him the ball, we will. But we'll package him at quarterback as well. He's also going to play a lot of defense. ...We don't want him to get hurt, but we have to have him playing defense as well. ...I've never had a kid like this, ever."
