Coaches make mistakes. Players make mistakes. And, yes, even writers make them, too.

In my game story following Tarpon Springs’ 41-20 loss Friday to Orlando Edgewater in the third round of the Class 4A state football playoffs (which I wrote in a McDonald’s parking lot), I said the Spongers “missed a 21-yard field-goal attempt when the usually reliable Michael Hill slipped and came up short.”

Turns out, I was only part right, which means I was a lot wrong.

Hill was short with the kick. But as you’ll see in the video footage (check the 5:03 mark), it’s clear he didn’t fall until being whacked by an Edgewater defender.

My sincerest apologies to Hill and the Spongers.

And by the way, where was the flag on that one?
