The latest spell of injuries have affected Wesley Chapel and Land O'Lakes.

The first was Wildcats pitcher Brandon Mumaw with a broken right ring finger. He had surgery last week and is likely done for the season, his mother, Lenore, said in an e-mail. Mumaw was 6-0 with a 0.50 ERA and 47 strikeouts.

The other was Land O'Lakes shortstop Tommy Cook with a hip injury.

Gators coach Calvin Baisley said he has three options now at shortstop - Alex Estes, Trae Urban or Austin Aubuchon. Estes and Aubuchon already play infield positions, and Urban is a starting outfielder with shortstop capabilities.

Cook was batting .327 with 16 hits and four RBIs. Defensively, he was second to Estes with 23 asssists.
