Pasco ATH Jamie Byrd gets Iowa State offer

Pasco DB/LB Jamie Byrd has picked up a scholarship offer from Iowa State.

And in recent weeks, several schools including Florida and USF have made visits to Dade City's high school to take a closer look.

Byrd already has offers from Purdue, Georgia Southern and Youngstown State. He earned Times first-team all-Suncoast honors, was the Times all-North Suncoast Defensive Player of the Year and was named a maxpreps.com junior All-American after the 2009 season.

Byrd led the Pirates with 129 tackles, six sacks and four fumble recoveries.
