Pasco baseball coach Giles indefinitely suspended

Longtime Pasco baseball coach and football assistant Ricky Giles has been indefinitely suspended as baseball coach pending an investigation that he had several “inappropriate verbal conversations” with students, the school district said Friday morning.

The allegations surfaced last week from parents and students, Pasco County School District spokeswoman Summer Romagnoli said. There are no concerns over possible physical confrontations.

The incident does not affect Giles’ job at the school in student discipline.

Pasco principal Patrick Reedy is out of town and unavailable to address the suspension. School athletic director Tom McHugh referred the Times to Giles, who could not immediately be reached for comment.

Giles is the father of Zephyrhills football coach Reggie Roberts and Pasco senior athlete Trey Dudley-Giles, who signed with UMass last month. The Pirates baseball team is 8-6 this season.
