Pasco LB/DB Jamie Byrd has received a scholarship offer from Western Michigan.

Byrd also has offers from Purdue, Iowa State, Georgia Southern and Youngstown State. So far, Byrd said he is content to wait out the recruiting process to see what other opportunities materialize. He has had interest from schools such as Florida and USF.

Byrd has expressed interest in playing with childhood friend, Nature Coast QB Ja'Juan Story, who orally committed to Florida last month. Story said at the time Florida coaches had mentioned Byrd as a recruit.

Another appealing scenario could send Byrd to Purdue where former Pasco defensive back Josh Johnson will begin this season competing for a starting position as a true sophomore.
