Pasco sophomore WR Nate Craig will miss four weeks after severely spraining his ankle in Friday night’s loss to Bushnell South Sumter, Craig said Monday evening in a text message.
Craig injured his leg on a kickoff return when someone landed on his ankle from behind. He said he felt a pop. A visit to the doctor Monday revealed no broken bones.
Craig is one of the Pirates’ top playmakers, with four touchdown catches this fall – including a 30-yarder Friday night. If he is sidelined for four games, he will miss district games against Weeki Wachee, Hernando, Central and Zephyrhills before returning for the regular-season finale against River Ridge.
The 6-foot-3, 200-pound athlete is one of the state’s top prospects for the Class of 2016. The potential five-star recruit holds more than a dozen offers, including Ohio State, Florida, Florida State and Miami.
Craig’s Pirates are 2-3 and 0-2 in Class 5A, District 6 but still retain playoff hopes.
