Pasco's Janarion Grant offered by UConn, ECU

Pasco three-way athlete Janarion Grant, a junior, received offers from UConn and East Carolina, Unsigned Preps founder (and former Jefferson defensive coordinator ) Ricky Sailor said Tuesday morning. Grant (6-0, 185 pounds) also has offers from USF, UMass, Rutgers and Western Kentucky. Pirates coach Tom McHugh confirmed the offers Tuesday afternoon.

Grant was the Times' North Suncoast co-player of the year with senior teammate Trey Dudley-Giles. He amassed more than 1,800 total yards and 28 touchdowns in the fall to help Pasco advance to the class 5A state semifinals. As a receiver, Grant caught 48 passes for 960 yards and 18 touchdowns, and he also scored five rushing touchdowns to go along with four special teams touchdowns and a defensive touchdown, a 102-yard interception return against Jesuit in the region final. Additionally, Grant won a state title in the long jump last season.

"If he was playing in Hillsborough County, he'd have 15 offers by now," said Sailor. "I have to convince college coaches who come down to go up to Pasco High School, because they have a lot of talent."
