A pair of Pasco boys soccer players signed college scholarships Tuesday.
Dillon Dunbar signed with Embry-Riddle, where he plans to study aviation mechanics. The 19-year-old midfielder was third on the Pirates in goals (12) and assists (10) this winter. He said Embry-Riddle was a match for his athletic and academic goals.
“It’s just a perfect mix between soccer and my major,” Dunbar said.
The Eagles are an NAIA program in Daytona Beach.
Pasco teammate Steven Mazza signed with Saint Leo, where he plans to study biology or engineering.
Mazza had interest from USF and a partial scholarship opportunity from Georgia but wanted to stay close to his family and his high school team.
“I didn’t want to leave the state,” Mazza said.
Both Mazza and Dunbar were first-team all-conference selections after their senior seasons.
