Pasco senior athlete Trey Dudley-Giles has signed with UMass, Minutemen spokesman John Sinnett confirmed Wednesday afternoon.
Dudley-Giles was the Times' North Suncoast Co-Player of the Year with teammate Janarion Grant. He landed offers from Middle Tennessee State, Rutgers, Ball State, East Carolina, Eastern Michigan, Florida Atlantic, Ohio and South Alabama. Memphis also made a late push for Dudley-Giles, the son of longtime Pasco assistant Ricky Giles.
The 6-foot, 190-pound speedster finished with 23 touchdowns and almost 1,700 all-purpose yards at receiver, running back and Wildcat QB. He totaled 1,066 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, five interceptions (one for a TD), two TD rushes and four special teams touchdowns. UMass recruited him as a defensive back.
Dudley-Giles could not immediately be reached for comment. His teammate, QB Jacob Guy, also has an offer from UMass, which is jumping up to Division I to join the MAC this year.
The Pirates have a ceremony scheduled for Thursday, and Dudley-Giles said Tuesday afternoon that he did not intend to sign today.
