East Lake's dynamoc duo of quarterback Pete DiNovo Jr. and wide receiver Artavis Scott have unofficial visits to Alabama and Auburn planned for next week on their way to a pair of prospect compeitions in Georgia, Pete DiNovo Sr. said Thursday.
DiNovo, arguably the best 2012 player in Tampa Bay still awaiting his first offer, will traveling with Scott to next weekend's Elite 11 quarterback camp on Friday and a Nike Football Training Camp the next day.
But first, the prolific pass-catch pair will stop by Auburn on Thursday, where DiNovo is expected to meet with coach Gene Chizik and new Tiger offensive coordinator Scot Loeffer and go over some Xs and Os. He'll then head over to Alabama and do with same with Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban and his new offensive coordinator Doug Nussmeier.
DiNovo Sr. said his son set up the meeting with Alabama, which hasn't shown much interest, on his own, but that Loeffler and DiNovo Jr. have been communicating via email for awhile.
"Pete is trying to take some of the initiative,'' his father said.
DiNovo Jr. threw for 19 touchdowns and 2,400 yards last season for the Eagles, many of those to Scott, who holds offers from Florida State and USF.
Though he had early interest from FSU, DiNovo has yet to get an offer. But he has received strong interest from more than dozen schools and expects to get a few this spring.
