Anclote athlete Alonzo Pettiford has landed an offer from Fort Hays State and plans to visit the school next weekend, Sharks coach Matt Wicks said Monday morning.

Pettiford, a 5-foot-11, 180-pound senior, was Anclote’s top playmaker this fall as a second-team all-North Suncoast selection. He averaged almost 9 yards per carry and led the Sharks with 602 rushing yards and seven touchdowns. He also totaled 268 receiving yards and two scores.

Pettiford averaged 33 yards per kickoff return and scored twice on special teams.

Fort Hays State is an NCAA Division-II school in Kansas. The Tigers finished 4-7 last fall in the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association.
