Palm Harbor University’s softball team continued its recent tear, going 4-0 this past weekend to win the Sarasota Slam tournament.

On the first day of the tournament, the Hurricanes beat Armwood 11-2 and Venice 5-2. In the semifinals, PHU knocked off Sarasota 7-2 then beat Bellaire (Texas) 2-1 in the championship game.

Rachel Ionata was the winning pitcher in the championship game. Samantha McCloskey hit two home runs in the tournament. The Hurricanes’ defense was led by shortstop Jess Adams and second baseman Logyn Lilley.

This is the second tournament title PHU has won in as many weeks. The Hurricanes went 4-0, beating East Lake in the championship game of the Lady Canes Spring Tournament two weeks ago.
