Seth McClung, who pitched for the Rays in two stints from 2003 to 07, has been hired as the new girls basketball coach at Pinellas Park.
McClung, a fifth-round pick of the Rays in 1999, pitched as a starter and reliever. He was traded to the Brewers on July 27th, 2007 for Grant Balfour. He stayed there for two seasons before signing a minor league contract with the Marlins in February. He was released in March and is hoping to to make it back to the big leagues.
He is taking over a Patriots team that went 0-15 last season. McClung already has started conditioning and is trying to encourage more girls to come out for basketball. He also is trying to beef up the schedule.
