Pinellas Park will play its first postseason game in a decade tonight without its starting quarterback.
Brandon Hames was involved in an accident that totaled his car Thursday night. He was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries. But he will most likely not be cleared by doctors in time to play according to Patriots coach Kenny Crawford. Running back Tias Climes was with Hames and was injured. He also will not play.
“The good news is the injuries are not severe and they’ll be okay,” Crawford said. “I just have to figure out what I’m going to do at quarterback.”
Hames has completed 63 percent of his passes for more than 1,000 yards and 13 touchdowns during the regular season. His injury is a blow for Pinellas Park, which is traveling to play Bradenton Manatee, a powerful program that made the state finals in 2009 and the state semifinals last season.
