Pinellas Park quarterback Jesse Hevia tore his ACL in last week's game against Northeast and might be lost for the season, Patriots coach Kenny Crawford said.
Hevia was injured after guiding Pinellas Park to a 10-0 lead against Northeast in a district game. The Vikings rallied once Hevia was out of the game and won 14-10.
Crawford said the initial diagnosis is an ACL tear but is waiting on the results of an MRI to find out the severity.
"It looks like it is a probable season-ending injury," Crawford said.
The news is a blow to the Patriots, who have already dealt with their share of injuries. Jonathon Colon and Sam Orth also are out with ACL tears. Wilbert Knight has a fractured hand and Iman Smith has a dislocated elbow.
"We have a lot of guys out," Crawford said. "But we just have to keep on playing."
