Pinellas Park receiver/linebacker Jeremi Powell has become one of the most sought-after recruits in Pinellas County.

After receiving offers from Purdue and Iowa State last week, Powell got his biggest one yet Friday morning when Florida offered. Later in the day, South Carolina came through with a scholarship offer as well.

"It's a pretty big deal," Patriots coach Kenny Crawford said. "We've got the ball rolling with Jeremi."

Powell had a breakthrough junior season and was a first-team all county selection as defensive player. But colleges like him because of his versatility and he has offers to be a receiver and linebacker in college.

Crawford said he expects interest to pick up even more in the next few weeks.
