The Plant City football team has its share of talented juniors, and another has emerged on the recruiting radar.
Raiders defensive back Sam Green has received a verbal offer from Rutgers, Plant City coach Wayne Ward said Tuesday. It is Green's first offer. The Scarlet Knights are recruiting Green as a cornerback and safety, Ward said.
The 6-foot, 179-pound Green made 101 tackles (9.2 a game), 6 pass break ups and 3 interceptions this past fall.
The Scarlet Knights have done well recruiting some of Hillsborough County's top prospects, signing former Leto athlete Jeremy Deering and ex-Jeffferson linebacker Fred Overstreet last year.
