Plant libero Kylie Parks, a Times' second-team all-Hillsborough selection, has received a scholarship offer to play sand volleyball at Louisiana-Monroe.

Parks will graduate early from Plant and start school in Monroe next week, just in time for the program's inaugural season, according to her mother.

"She has played indoor (volleyball) since third grade and had reached a point where she lost a bit of her love for the game, until she stepped in the sand and found her true calling," Kelly Parks said in an e-mail.

The 5-foot-9 Parks led Plant with 4.3 digs per game, and was second in aces (25) and third in assists (23). The Panthers finished 15-11 and won the Class 8A, District 7 tournament.

Louisiana-Monroe starts its first sand volleyball season on March 8 at the Open Pairs Tournament in Cocoa Beach.
