Not only will the Plant volleyball team enter next week's Class 6A-8 district tournament as the top seed, but the Panthers also head into next week still ranked as the nation's No. 10 team by PrepVolleyball.com

The Panthers (22-1) closed out their regular season with an impressive three-set win Thursday over Sickles, 25-16, 25-16, 25-14. Senior outside hitter Maddie Martin led the way with 18 kills, 9 digs, 4 aces and 2 blocks, while libero Ali McCurdy added 14 digs and 4 aces.

Plant heads into the district tournament winners of seven straight, all in straight sets, and has lost just three games out of 60 this season.

Berkeley Prep (20-3) fell 15 spots to 35th. The Bucs close out their regular season Saturday hosting the Battle of the Bay challenge, playing Pinellas powers East Lake (9 a.m.) and Northside Christian (11 a.m.).
