A fifth member of the Plant volleyball team’s senior class is moving on to play Division I college volleyball
Panthers defensive specialist Katie Daorai has committed to play at James Madison University, Plant coach Leanna Taylor said.
Daorai joins outside hitter Maddie Martin (Penn State), libero Ali McCurdy (Duke), setter Becca Howard (Alabama-Birmingham) and middle hitter Leah Jordan (Princeton) as Plant seniors who are playing for Division I programs.
Taylor said that Daorai was first spotted by new JMU coach Lauren Sauer last year when Sauer was an assistant at Kentucky and Plant was playing in a prominent national tournament in Chicago.
Taylor also said Daorai should be able to contribute immediately.
She is the second Plant player to go to JMU in as many years. Former Panthers outside hitter Danielle Erb won third-team all-conference honors this past season as a freshman.
Plant has won four consecutive state championships.
