Plant senior place kicker/punter Chris Finn has accepted an invitation for a preferred walk-on role at Florida State, Plant coach Robert Weiner said Saturday.

Finn received offers from several Division I-AA and Division II schools but he wanted to play Division I football.

The fact that Finn both kicks and punts was attractive to the Seminoles and will give Finn a better opportunity to eventually earn a scholarship.

Finn, who received Times All-Hillsborough County honorable mention honors, was a major special teams weapon for the Panthers as they made their run to a second straight state title. Finn made 9 of 12 field goal attempts, and averaged 40.28 yards per punt with five inside the 20. He had 23 kickoff touchbacks.

Weiner highlighted Finn's game in Plant's 17-7 win over Armwood, saying his might have been the Panthers' MVP after he made six punts for 274 yards in a gritty game dominated by field position.
