The Florida Gators are getting Plant High's best player after all.
In basketball, that is.
Six days after Panther two-way star James Wilder Jr. told an auditorium of friends, relatives, teammates and TV crews that he'll attend FSU, junior shooting guard Michael Frazier called a couple of local reporters to inform them he has settled on UF.
"Florida has always been my favorite school and it's right here, close to home," said Frazier, whose 26.7 points a game led Hillsborough County last season. "I've got an opportunity and I'm going to take advantage of it."
Arguably the county's best pure shooter, Frazier (6-foot-4, 185 pounds) had 21 scholarship offers, increasing his profile with breakout performances this past summer on the AAU circuit and at all-star showcases.
Last winter, he became the first sophomore in county history to eclipse the 1,000-point career mark.
"Now I can focus on high school and being successful and trying to win a state championship," he said.
