The breakthrough summer of Plant 6-foot-10 senior Kieffer Jordan will come to gratifying fruition next week, when he formally signs with the United States Military Academy at West Point.
First-year Panthers coach Michael Slonaker confirmed Jordan, who registered a team-best 46 blocks as a junior, will sign at the school Nov. 9, the start of the NCAA's early signing period for many sports (excluding football).
Jordan posted inconspicuous numbers (2.6 ppg, 2.3 rpg) in the shadow of University of Florida commitment Michael Frazier last season, but crashed the radar of many colleges with a strong effort at a summer showcase in Orlando. He also received offers from VMI, Lafayette, Missouri-Kansas City and Colgate, Slonaker said.
