Plant senior volleyball standout Maddie Martin is the Florida Dairy Farmers Class 6A Player of the Year, and Panthers coach Leanna Taylor was voted the coach of the year in the same classification.

Martin, who won four state championships at Plant, will be a finalist for the Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Volleyball award and Taylor is a finalist for coach of the year. Both awards are voted on by state coaches and media.

Martin, a Penn State signee, led the Panthers with 5.1 kills and 2.9 digs a game. She will also play in the Under Armour All-America match this month at the St. Pete Times Forum.

Taylor owns a 161-15 career record in six years at Plant, winning the Class 6A state title this year after winning three straight in Class 5A.

Plant was 29-1 this year, beating Winter Park in four sets to win the state title.
